Hello, Sunshine!
Welcome to the sunniest city in the United States. Yuma, AZ, boasts 4,133 hours of sunshine annually, and is the warmest winter city in Arizona. Combine that with its proximity to both the Colorado and Gila Rivers, and you’ll start to see why Yuma is such a popular destination, especially for snowbirds and water sports enthusiasts. In fact, Money Magazine ranked Yuma as one of the top places to live in the U.S.
As a safe spot to cross the Colorado River, Yuma became a focal point of commerce in the Old West. Its history is rich and deep, and well preserved through its museums and historical parks.
Today, Yuma is host to a wonderful variety of activities and events throughout the year, including antique shows, arts and crafts bazaars, seminars, health fairs, home shows, banquets, concerts and dances. Yuma is home to 13 parks, 7 athletic complexes, 3 recreation centers, 3 swimming pools, 3 tennis complexes and 16 golf courses. Several hundred acres of parks have paths for bicycling and hiking, as well as areas for picnicking, fishing, birding and camping. The Colorado River is a major attraction for water enthusiasts, and the nearby desert sand dunes draw many off-road enthusiasts.
Laurel’s location is just minutes by foot or by car from an elementary school, middle school, a new high school, and the recently expanded Arizona Western College. Yuma is also home to the Yuma Regional Medical Center, which is a 333-bed Medicare-certified, not-for-profit health care organization. It delivers the full spectrum of acute care, medical and clinical services.
