Living Local
From Farm to Fashion in the Same Day
They say if you want to change the world, start at home. We think that’s fitting for Laurel. Something we’d like to see changed is the trend of sprawling developments where people don’t interact with each other. We’d like to see people get out from behind their computer screens and get out into the community. We’d like to know that the tomato in our dinner salad came from the community garden, and that the lettuce came from Laurel Farm. We’d like to support the boutiques and unique shops that give a Village Center its own charm, and bolster the Yuma economy.
Starting at home, here’s what it means to live local:
- Getting to know your neighbors who live and work in your community
- Eating fresh food grown as close to where you live as possible
- Buying products and services from local business
- Reducing the carbon footprint through a decreased need for transportation
- Working close to home or in a home office
